At a certain point in our life we became obsessed and addicted to a particular thing. If not being obsess and addict, we have some fear issue and improper behavior to work out with. What are we going to do to solve this kind of problem? Smartly, we responded self-control is what you need. But to be honest, it is not an easy job to do. Don’t torment yourself. Here are some easy and simple ways to improve your self-control.

You know that self-control is the ability to control our feelings, emotions and reactions. This is what makes it important. Because if feelings, emotions and reactions are not handled well, life will become miserable. In short, we will not become successful, happy, and popular in life. Remember, failing to control our self is just simply a failure in all aspects of our life.

Assuming that you are now committed to improving your self-control and already know your problem, let’s proceed to the suggestions. First, have an eight hours of sleep. McGonigal says that sleep deprivation drains glucose in the prefrontal cortex and glucose is the fuel needed for self-control. Robbing yourself from sleep simply means that you are reducing the numbers of your glucose in your brain. Better sleep to restore it.

After you sleep, the next step is to eat. Eat sugary foods for it contains glucose. Baumeister says that acts of self-control reduce blood glucose levels. Therefore, low levels of glucose predict poor performance on self-control tasks and tests. Never forget to eat to raise your blood sugar.

If you are done eating, then you could exercise. Exercising increases our blood and oxygen flow to the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for self-control. This now can enhance our ability to control.

To sum it up, don’t forget to SEE which stands for sleep, eat, and exercise. Always put in your mind that self-control is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. Avoiding something tempting once will help you develop the ability to resist other temptations in the future. God bless you as you exert more effort in self-control.
